ASSISTANT BRANCH MANAGER 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the branch and maintaining communication with other applicable departments. This position provides support, guidance, and training to team members, while embodying the culture and leading by example. This position will be accountable for completing assigned responsibilities at a professional level, while ensuring the overall efficiency of the branch. This position manages Teller and Universal Banker staff.

Essential Functions Key/Responsibilities:

    • Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of daily retail operations and perform each as necessary.
    • Work with the Branch Manager to provide ongoing training to staff related to operations, policies, and professional development.
    • Supervise and coach team members to deliver positive customer experiences and enhance customer satisfaction.
    • Schedule staff accordingly and prepare monthly work schedules in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Monitor and approve electronic timecards for supervised employees including approving time off requests and ensuring the branch is adequately covered at all times.
    • Assist the Branch Manager by preparing and leading staff meetings and sharing information with branch staff in a timely and direct manner.
    • Proactively work with Branch Manager to set and monitor goals in alignment with the company’s strategic plan and core vision.
    • Manage and ensure accurate retail procedures, ensuring compliance with federal laws and regulations.
    • Perform monthly audits in a professional, accurate and timely manner.
    • Assists with managing the safety and security of the branch to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
    • Assists in monitoring activity, including but not limited to number of transactions, sales volume and average traffic patterns in alignment with established goals.
    • Evaluate staff performance by preparing scheduled reviews and performing scheduled coaching sessions.
    • Take initiative in developing brand awareness through continued relationship building with new and existing customers.
    • Lead staff in representing and promoting marketing and customer initiatives.
    • Exhibits interpersonal and communication skills, providing an environment of open and authentic communication.
    • Adhere to all Citizens Federal Savings Bank policies and procedures while serving as an example to other team members and customers.
    • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 3 years of banking experience, Assistant Manager or Head Teller experience highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Valid Driver’s License and transportation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Teller – 1 Position

Summary

The Teller -1 position is an entry level position responsible for building, maintaining, and deepening relationships with consumer and business customers by providing exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Accepts and accurately processes a variety of financial transactions for customers, including typical consumer and business transactions, such as, but not limited to, cashing checks, processing checking and savings account withdrawals, and assists in balancing accounts while seeking opportunities to develop customer relationships.
  2. Responsible for cash drawer, proper handling of cash handling and balancing procedures.
  3. Reviews and maintains current knowledge of the Bank’s various products services, fees, policies, procedures, and processes.
  4. Uses appropriate judgment and initiative in resolving issues or problems and makes recommendations within given authority.
  5. Learn required skills including teller, vault, safe deposit box, and branch operations.
  6. Receive and processes stop payment and hold orders.
  7. Provides exceptional customer service.
  8. Scanning and filing of documents as required.
  9. Answers telephones and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
  10. Processes debit card orders, address changes, check and deposit slip orders, ATM deposits, incoming and outgoing wires, and change orders.
  11. Assist with opening and closing the vault daily; prepares and processes incoming and outgoing shipments; and assists in balancing vault currency and coin.
  12. Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; Inspires the trust of others; works ethically and with integrity; upholds organizational values; and accepts responsibility for own actions.
  13. The position includes driving a Bank or personal owned vehicle approximately 10% of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, and drafts.

The Teller – 1 position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to twenty-five pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.

The position may require operating any or all the following: telephone, smart phone, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), scanner and image systems, scanning equipment, money counter, typewriter, computer terminal, laptop computer, personal computer, tablet, printers, or other equipment as directed.

Universal Banker Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Builds, maintains, and deepens relationships with consumer and business customers by providing exceptional customer service and recommending appropriate customer solutions using the catalog of the Bank’s various products and services.
  2. Accepts and accurately processes a variety of financial transactions for customers, including typical consumer and business transactions, such as, but not limited to, cashing checks, processing checking and savings account withdrawals, assists in balancing accounts, etc., while seeking opportunities to develop customer relationships and identify sales opportunities.
  3. Maintains responsibility of proper cash handling and balancing procedures to ensure audit safety and soundness.
  4. Reviews and maintains current knowledge of the Bank’s various products and services, fees, policies, procedures, and processes, and stays current on offerings for product or service suggestions.
  5. Responsible for opening consumer and business deposit and savings accounts.
  6. Responsible for reporting as needed and various operational processes related to day-to-day operations.
  7. Provides excellent customer service and assists in resolving customer issues and questions.
  8. Answers telephones and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
  9. May assist in opening and closing the vault daily; prepares and processes incoming and outgoing shipments; and assists in balancing vault currency and coin.
  10. Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; Inspires the trust of others; works ethically and with integrity; upholds organizational values; and accepts responsibility for own actions.
  11. Assures compliance with all Bank policies, procedures and processes, and all applicable responsibilities that are specific to the position.

The position of Universal Banker (Floater) performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.

  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school; or 2 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a financial institution cash handling and/or customer service background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Intermediate experience, knowledge and training in branch operation activities, terminology and products and services.
  • Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals and technical procedures.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; word processing, spreadsheets, and account opening software programs.
  • Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Basic math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin, and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
